LIBERTY COUNTY BASEBALL RECAP

LIBERTY PANTHERS

Leyton Kirkland singled home Kenan Clevenger in the bottom of the 11th inning to walk it off for Liberty in a 2-1 win at West Fork on Friday night. The game was moved to New Caney because of the weather, but the Panthers were still the home team. Zander Davila pitched into the seventh inning and finished with 11 strikeouts. Gage Pavliska picked up the win in relief and added three strikeouts.

HARDIN HORNETS

The Hardin Hornets dropped their first district game on Friday night at Orangefield 8-0. The Bobcats scored a pair of runs in the second, third, fourth, and sixth innings to pick up the victory. Jayden Phelps and Trevor Jones had the only hits for Hardin.

CLEVELAND INDIANS

Xavier Woods pitched a masterpiece on Saturday afternoon against Caney Creek in a 7-0 win over Caney Creek in district play. Woods pitched six innings and allowed just three hits in striking out 11. Andres Campos picked up three hits and scored a pair of runs, and teammates Ryland Hamilton and Ivan Gonzalez each picked up a pair of hits and an RBI. Jose Romo added a pair of hits with a single.

TARKINGTON LONGHORNS

Tarkington had the offense in full effect on Saturday afternoon at home in a 15-0 shout-out of the Crockett Bulldogs. Dalton Bottos drove in three with a pair of hits. Caleb Schmidt and Gavin Ling finished with two hits, and Justin Scarborough drove in two. Kamden Roberts pitched three innings and struck out five in getting the win on the mound. Bryan Mills pitched the fourth inning to close out the no-hitter.
