East beats West 3-1 in SETCA Baseball Game
ANAHUAC— The hometown faithful saw three recent graduates play on the diamond one last time in the SETCA All-Star Baseball Game for the West Team last week.
Panthers graduates Luke Hoagland, Logan Trotter and Blaedin Josephson all played as the West dropped a low scoring 3-1 decision to the East at the Anahuac Ballpark.
Trotter got the start on the mound for the West side and two errors on defense contributed to a pair of runs coming across the plate for the East in the top of the first inning.
Trotter did strike out a couple of East hitters in the frame. He also reached base on a walk in the first inning.
With the West side trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning, they would get something going offensively.
Jakob Odaniel of Crosby launched a pitch into the gap for the triple. Josephson then reached on an infield hit, which would score Odaniel to cut the deficit to 2-1.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Liberty's Cody Sandefur reached on a walk and moved to third base before being stranded there.
The East added an insurance run late for the 3-1 final.
