SPURGER — The Hull-Daisetta Bobcats hit the road last Wednesday for a doubleheader, and it was a rough outing for the Bobcats, losing game one 21-0, and game two was a bit better, falling 4-0.

After the rough opener, the Bobcats responded with a much better showing in game two against the Pirates.

Krispon Sowell pitched very well and allowed just three hits while striking out five. Sowell did not walk a hitter during the entire game.

Spurger would score all their runs in the bottom of the first inning and led 4-0 after an inning of play.

The Bobcats threatened in the second. Catcher Josh Jennings reached on a single and then stole second base.

A couple of pitches later, Jennings advanced to third on a wild pitch before being thrown out by the Pirates catcher after leading off the base.

Teddy Bowden reached on an error in the third inning and stole third base before being stranded there.

Leilan Theriot reached on a single in the fourth inning before being left at second base.

Sowell, meanwhile, was holding the Pirates at bay at the plate by throwing up zeros.

The game was called after five innings due to time.
