Lady Cats sweep Lady Pirates

    The Lady Cats’ Quay Haskins lines a single at Spurger in district play last Wednesday afternoon.

SPURGER — Scarlett Breaux pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine, and the Hull-Daisetta needed only five innings to take care of Spurger 14-0 on Wednesday in game one of a doubleheader.

Breaux was in control from start to finish, recording her 100th strikeout of the season in the second inning.

Cami Fregia led the offensive attack with two hits and two RBIs.

The Lady Cats wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Quay Haskins led things off by reaching after being hit by a pitch and then stealing second and third.

Breaux then scored Haskins with a single to make it 1-0.

A pitch then hit Fregia and both runners advanced on a passed ball.

Kaitlin Quinn grounded out to second, but both Breaux and Fregia would score on the play and the lead was 3-0.

Hull-Daisetta added five more in the third inning. Haylee Reed had an RBI single in the inning.

The Lady Cats scored a run in the fourth and then put the game away with five runs in the fifth inning.

Breaux walked with the bases loaded for an RBI and Fregia added a two-run single and the advantage was 13-0.

Breaux and Quinn each finished with two RBIs apiece.

In the second game, the Lady Cats rolled over the Lady Pirates again. Fregia had a massive game with two home runs and a triple to go along with eight RBIs.
