GOP MEET N’ GREET

Local voters are encouraged to come out and take part in the Liberty County Republican Party’s 2022 Republican Party Primary Candidate Meet N’ Greet on Thursday, Feb. 10, from 5–7 pm at the Dayton Community Center. The event will allow voters to learn about Republican candidates vying for their party’s nomination in the upcoming Tuesday, March 2, Republican Primary Election.

Candidates will be there to answer questions about their platforms and inform voters on the issues here locally. There will be candidates in several races on hand running for County Judge, County Court at Law No. 1, County Commissioner Pct. 4, District Clerk, State Representative, Ninth Court of Appeals, and Justice of the Peace Pct. 2.

SWEETHEART DANCE

The Rocky King Band will be playing at the Liberty Elks Lodge Event Center on February 11th from 8 pm – 12 am. This event is BYOB only with a bottle fee of $5 and cooler fee of $10. Tickets are $15 at the door, or reserve a table for $125. All proceeds for this event go towards the Liberty Elks Lodge #2019 Sweetheart fund that helps special needs children in the county.

LIBERTY FREEDOM RIDE

The 7th Liberty Freedom Ride will be held this year on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2021, with three routes to participate in this year – 18, 38, and 75 miles of beautiful Liberty County scenery to choose from. All rides begin at the Liberty Center 1829 Sam Houston, Liberty, TX. All routes have good shoulders and have rest stops every 8 to 12 miles. All routes end at the start/ finish line.

This year’s event will feature 101st Brewery located in nearby Dayton, TX, classic gumbo lunch, and t-shirts.

DAYTON CHAMBER BANQUET

Dayton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their Annual Banquet at the Dayton Community Center Saturday, February 12th, from 6–10 pm. The theme this year is “Let’s Get Down and Derby.” Table for 10 is $350, Individual Member Tickets are $40, and Individual Non-Member Tickets are $50. SUPER BOWL SUNDAY BBQ FUNDRAISER

Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary Council and Court #83 will be hosting their 14th Annual BBQ Fundraiser on Feb 13th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. You can order a slab of ribs for $40 or a whole chicken for $20 with two 16-ounce side orders of dirty rice and potato salad. You must pre-order by Feb 10th. Make checks payable to KPC #83. Dinner plates are not being sold this year. Get your sweets for your sweetie as they are having a cake sale as well! Chamber Cheers Love Edition Presented by Lazy-H Brick oven Pizza at Lazy-H Brick oven Pizza on Tuesday, Feb. 15 from 4-6 pm. TRINITY VALLEY CCA BANQUET

The Trinity Valley Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association is hosting their 10th Annual Chapter Banquet Thursday, February 17th, at the Dayton Community Center at 6 pm. 3RD ANNUAL COPS VS. KIDS

The 3rd Annual Cops vs. Kids Basketball Game will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Dayton High School Gym. Just Amazing Youth Sports will face off with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department for bragging rights. Admission is $3, with a silent auction, food, and fun for everyone. HARDIN HS DONKEY BASKETBALL

Wilder than a rodeo, funnier than a circus! Watch your friends ride real, live donkeys!

The Hardin High School classes of 2024 & 25 will be hosting a Donkey Basketball game Sunday, Feb. 20 at 3 pm. The cost is $7 in advance or $10 at the door. There will be a cake auction at intermission.

Tickets are on sale now for the annual HHS Miss Buzz Womanless Beauty Pageant Friday, Feb. 25 at 7 pm at Hardin High School. See any Stingerette to purchase your ticket! They are $15 each for everyone ages 2 & up; children under 2 are free! Tickets include spaghetti, garlic bread, tea, and a dessert. So come out and enjoy a night of entertainment and lots of laughs! Your reigning District Champion LMS Panther Players will be proudly presenting their 2021-2022 UIL One-Act Play, Love is a Hot Fudge Sundae, for the public on Wednesday the 2nd of February at 6:00 pm in the LISD Auditorium. We are asking for a minimal ticket fee of $5.00 per person to support this great Program. The story is one that realistically portrays the humor and pain of high school and speaks of peer pressure, stress, and the desperate need to belong, a praiseworthy effort to create thoughtful discussion about the ever-increasing problem of teenage suicide.

Mark your calendars! The CISD Education Foundation is hosting a CHS All-Class Reunion Crawfish Boil on Saturday, March 26th, from 11 am to 4 pm at Stancil Park. EASTER PORK LOIN SALE

Liberty Masonic Lodge announces their annual PORK LOIN sale for Easter. This fund raiser supports student scholarships for graduating seniors in Liberty ISD and Hardin ISD and community charitable projects. These pork loins are $30.00 each and perfectly seasoned and slow smoked to perfection. HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Commu nity Center each week Tuesday-Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. For more information or to reserve your lunch, call 936-298-3107. The Hardin Community Center is located at 414 CR 2010 in Hardin.

DAYTON OLD SCHOOL MUSEUM

The Dayton Old School Museum is open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays. The museum is located at 111 W. Houston St. in Dayton.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Tuesday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is located at 656 CR 2010 in Hardin, Texas.

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS

Trust the process. Narcotics Anonymous meets every Monday and Wednesday at 7 pm at 424 Main Street in Liberty, next to Jax Hamburgers. For more information, call 254-716-9965.
