VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Linney-Acie Cemetery Association is having two cemetery clean-up days. The first will be Saturday, March 19th and the second will be Saturday, April 2nd. Both days will be from 8 am until noon. LMS PLAYERS TO PERFORM

Your award-winning Liberty Middle School Panther Players will be presenting two short productions on Thursday, March 31st at 6:00 pm in the LISD Auditorium. These productions are co-directed by students in the cast and include Cast Away... a tale about the harsh conditions the master storyteller Charles Dickens grew up in; student directed by Sydney Kay. Based on a story by Edgar Allen Poe, Some Words with a Mummy will round out the evening; this production is student directed by Jaenelle La Fleur. Admission is $5.00 for both shows.

HARDIN HELPING HANDS FUNDRAISER

Hardin Helping Hands is hosting a multi-family yard sale April 1-2, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM at 11330 Highway 146 N. Liberty, across from the Hardin Elementary School. All proceeds benefit Hardin Helping Hands, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Hardin Helping Hands sponsors several community-based projects including food drives, back to school supply drives, clothes closets, annual Christmas Parade/Tree Lighting/Citizen of the Year award and the Students First Program which provides new clothing and other essential needs to students in Hardin ISD several time throughout the year.

FREEDOM CHURCH CELEBRATES 1ST ANNIVERSARY

On Sunday, April 3rd, Freedom Church at 1011 N Main St in Liberty will celebrate its first anniversary at 11 am. Following the service, Freedom will have an after party including a crawfish boil, food trucks, fun for the kids and family, and a ribbon cutting officially opening Freedom! KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FISH FRY

The Liberty Knights of Columbus will have their annual fish fry, with all the trimmings, on Fridays during lent at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 411 Milam St in Liberty, Texas. This will be TAKEOUT/DRIVE THROUGH ONLY, and it will be held on March 4, 11, 18, 25, and April 1 and 8 from 5 to 7 pm. Enter off Milam St and exit onto Austin St. The cost is $15 per plate.

SACRED HEART CHURCH FISH DINNER

The Sacred Heart Church is hosting a fish dinner for the Lenten season. It will be held on March 11, 18, 25, and April 1 and 8 from 10 am-1 pm. Come out to 3730 FM 160 North, Raywood, Texas, for some delicious fried or grilled fish along with hushpuppies, coleslaw, rice, and cake for $10. Large order delivery is available. BBQ COOK-OFF

Lily Of The Valley Baptist Church is having a BBQ Cook-Off on April 2nd. Bring your friends and family, and don’t forget your appetite as there will be plenty of food such as ribs, smoked turkey legs, brisket, and so much more. There will also be loads of fun and prizes. Teams will be judged on texture, presentation, and taste. The winners will be ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The admission fee is $30. If interested, please contact Pastor R. FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION AND ELECTRONIC FILING

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program offers free tax return preparation and electronic filing to low and moderate-income individuals and families (generally $60,000 and below). Friday, April 8th, you can visit the Jones Public Library, 801 S. Cleveland St. Suite A in Dayton from 1 pm-5 pm for assistance by IRS certified taxpayers from South Texas College of Law Houston. No appointment needed and walk-ins are welcome. You will need proof of identity, W2 and any 1099 forms, social security or ITIN number cards for all family members, copy of last year’s tax return (if available), total paid for daycare provider and providers’ tax identifying number, any other tax documents, and a personal check to allow for direct deposit of your tax return. FRIENDS OF JONES PUBLIC LIBRARY BOOK SALE

The Friends of the Jones Public Library will be hosting a book sale on April 9th-10th during the Trade Days. The Friends will be set up with a booth located just inside the Community Center. The booth will be open on Saturday and Sunday from opening to closing of the day.

BREAKFAST WITH THE BUNNY

The Easter Bunny will be hopping his way to Calvary Baptist Church of Dayton on Saturday morning, April 9th, from 8:30 am -10:30 am. Come have breakfast, play games, do crafts, and bring your camera to take a picture with the Bunny. This is a free event, and the public is invited. EASTER BUNNY COMING TO DAYTON

The Easter Bunny is coming to Dayton, Saturday, April 9 from 10 am-2 pm at Parker Hall. Come out and join the Dayton Historical Society as they welcome the Easter Bunny. Bring your camera and snap a photo with the Bunny. The event is free and there will be refreshments. Parker Hall is located at 201 S. Hill Street behind the Dayton Old School Museum. DAYTON COMMUNITY-WIDE CLEAN-UP

The Dayton Enhancement Committee will be hosting a Community-Wide Clean-up event on Saturday, April 9, from 10 am – 12 pm. The community is invited to come out and take part in this Spring-cleaning event around the city. Participants will meet at the Crossroads Park on HWY 90.

COLBERT ELEMENTARY PRE-K ROUNDUP

Colbert Elementary will be holding the 2022-2023 school year Pre-K Round up Registration in the Colbert Cafeteria Monday, April 11, 9a-2p and 5p-7p, Tuesday, April 12, 9a-2p and 5p-7p, and Wednesday, April 13, 9a-2p. They will also have it available in the front office Thursday, April 14 to Friday, May 13 9a-2p by appointment only. Call the front office before. You will need the child’s birth certificate, social security card, up to date shot record, current proof of residency, parent/guardian’s driver’s license, and proof of income (1-month paystubs, or SNAP/Medicaid letter). EASTER PORK LOIN SALE

Liberty Masonic Lodge announces their annual PORK LOIN sale for Easter. This fundraiser supports student scholarships for graduating seniors in Liberty ISD and Hardin ISD and charitable community projects. These pork loins are $30.00 each and perfectly seasoned and slowsmoked to perfection. Each one is 5 pounds before cooking and will be available for pick up on Saturday, April 16th, and ready for you to enjoy for Easter Sunday. COUNTRY BOOTS AND HOMETOWN ROOTS PARADE

Cleveland Livestock Show and Dairy Day is presenting their Country Boots and Hometown Roots Parade on April 23 at 3pm. The Grand Marshal includes the 2021 Rodeo Queen Marlee Brooks and 2022 Rodeo Queen Contestants. HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week Tuesday-Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. DAYTON OLD SCHOOL MUSEUM

The Dayton Old School Museum is open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays. The museum is located at 111 W. Houston St. in Dayton.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Tuesday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is located at 656 CR 2010 in Hardin, Texas.

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS

Trust the process. Narcotics Anonymous meets every Monday and Wednesday at 7 pm at 424 Main Street in Liberty, next to Jax Hamburgers. For more information, call 254-716-9965.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR The City of Liberty has Coffee with the Mayor on the third Thursday of the month.

Boutique/Craft vendors are not required to pay a vendor fee and just fill out the vendor form with the Civic Center. (210 Peach Ave.)

AMES CITY COUNCIL MEETING

As the legislative branch of the City of Ames government, the City Council holds open public meetings where local laws, policies, and fundamental decisions for the city are discussed and decided. City Council members are elected at large.
