CLEVELAND FOOD TRUCK FUSION

The Cleveland Civic Center and CVB and Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce will be bringing the Food Truck Fusion back in a new and exciting way. This event will be set up at a new downtown location (on the old fire station lot), 106 West Hanson St, Cleveland, TX 77327, with shorter, more convenient hours and maybe a few surprises. It will occur on the last Thursday of each month; June 30, July 28, and August 25 from 11 am to 1 pm with limited time pop-up events.

DAYTON GROCERY GIVEAWAY

The City of Dayton, Journey Fellowship, Houston Food Bank, and Trinity River Food Bank will be sponsoring the Grocery Giveaway on July 6, lineup starting at 10 am. The mobile food distribution will be at the Dayton Community Center, 801 S. Cleveland St., Dayton, TX 77535. Volunteers are still needed to help hand out food to the community. If you would be interested in volunteering, call the Dayton Community Center at 96-258-6630.

VALLEY PLAYERS RESCHEDULED

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are postponing the remaining performances of 9 to 5. We will be rescheduling for July 7, 8, 9, and 10. We will be happy to exchange your tickets for the same day of the week you have now. For example, if you have tickets for Thursday, June 23, your tickets will now be changed to Thursday, July 7. If that date isn’t convenient for you, please contact us at thevalleyplayersliberty@gmail.com and we will discuss other options for you. JONES PUBLIC LIBRARY SUMMER READING

The Summer Reading Program is almost here at the Jones Public Library! Registration runs through July 8th. The Opening Day program will be held on July 1st in the Community Center ballroom. TaleWise will be performing a STEM inspired Pirate Show! Activities will be held daily throughout the month of July. More information can be found on Facebook and on the Jones Public Library website.

LADY PANTHERS CELEBRATION

The Liberty Lady Panthers will be celebrating their back-to-back State Championship on Tuesday, July 19 at 5:30 pm. This event will take place at the City Hall Gazebo in Liberty. Come celebrate the Liberty Lady Panthers State Championship where there will be music, food, and drinks!

CISD NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

The 2022-2023 New Student Registration for Cleveland ISD is upon us. Online registration will open on June 1. You can visit their website: https://www.clevelandisd.org/parents-students/registration to begin the process. In-Person Registration Assistance will begin on July 13.

JONES LIBRARY ART CONTEST

The Jones Public Library will be hosting an Art Contest this summer in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program. Submissions are being accepted from June 1 to July 1, and the contest will run throughout the month of July. Patrons age thirteen and up are invited to participate. The art must fit the theme: “Oceans of Possibilities.” Any art mediums may be entered. Pieces may be submitted in person at the Jones Public Library. SHOOTING SPORTS MEETING

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is hosting an Informational Shooting Sports meeting at the Liberty County Extension Office, 501 Palmer Street, Liberty, TX 77575. This event will take place on July 7 at 6 pm. Contact Amanda Brooks at 936-334-3230 or amanda.brooks@ag.tamu.edu to RSVP by July 5.

ESD NO. 3 BBQ FUNDRAISER

Liberty County ESD NO. 3 VFD will be hosting their first annual BBQ Fundraiser at the Alibis Icehouse at 9643 FM 1409 in Dayton. They will begin serving plates at 11 am until they are sold out on July 9. The BBQ plates consist of chopped BBQ sandwich, chips, and water for $12. The Liberty Co. ESD #3 VFD also wants you to come by to not only eat but to get to know your firefighters and have some fun. You can dunk a firefighter 1 try for $3 or 3 tries for $5. If you are feeling a little frisky, just punch the button for $10! There will also be a bounce house for the children while you eat or even have a few “responsible” drinks from Alibis Icehouse.

CLAIM YOUR CROWN VBS

St. John Baptist Church will be holding the Claim Your Crown VBS, July 13-15, from 6-8 pm for ages 5 and up. They are located at 3709 N. Main, Liberty, TX 77535.

ST. MILES PRAYER BREAKFAST

A Prayer Breakfast will be held at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church, 120 East Main Hwy 90, Ames, TX 77575, on July 16. Registration begins at 8:30 am, and breakfast will be at 9 am. It is $5 for donation. Sis. Beth Randolph of Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Hardin will be the guest speaker at this event.

WOMEN’S ANNUAL DAY

Everyone is invited to the Women’s Annual Day event with guest speaker Rev. Jason Dever from Greater Commission Family Church in Houston. This event will be held at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church on July 17 at 10 am.

MT. CALVARY CLOTHING GIVEAWAY

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church invites all area families to a FREE clothing (all sizes), household items and school supplies giveaway. This event will be Wednesday, July 27 through Saturday, July 30 from 9 am to 3 pm each day. Mt. Calvary is located at 2988 HWY 105 East (3 miles East of Moss Hill). BACKPACK GIVEAWAY

The Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, in conjunction with the Magnificent 10 and Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church, is hosting a Back To School Backpack Giveaway. They will be giving out 200 backpacks to Liberty ISD students on July 30, from 11 pm to 1 pm. 2022 TVE BABY PARADE

The Trinity Valley Exposition will be hosting their annual Baby Parade through downtown Liberty on Main Street Saturday, October 15 at 10 am. This year’s theme is “DECADES”. 2022 TVE BBQ COOKOFF

Trinity Valley Exposition asks that the community join them for another fun filled weekend of cooking and fun at the annual BBQ Cook-Off starting October 14 at 8 am and ending October 16 at 10 am. It will be at the TVE Fairgrounds, 321 FM 563 (Wallisville Road) in Liberty. The cost to reserve a space, which is 40x40 in size, before October 7 is $120.00 per team, after October 7 is $170.00. This event is free to the community. Your team cannot charge the public to enter your space. HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week Tuesday-Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. For more information or to reserve your lunch, call 936-298-3107. The Hardin Community Center is located at 414 CR 2010 in Hardin.

DAYTON OLD SCHOOL MUSEUM

The Dayton Old School Museum is open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays. The museum is located at 111 W. Houston St. in Dayton.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Tuesday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is located at 656 CR 2010 in Hardin, Texas.

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS

Trust the process. Narcotics Anonymous meets every Monday and Wednesday at 7 pm at 424 Main Street in Liberty, next to Jax Hamburgers. For more information, call 254-716-9965.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

The City of Liberty has Coffee with the Mayor on the third Thursday of the month.

As the legislative branch of the City of Ames government, the City Council holds open public meetings where local laws, policies, and fundamental decisions for the city are discussed and decided. City Council members are elected at large.

Second Monday of each month

Meetings start at 7:00 pm at City Hall.
