DAYTON CHAMBER RIBBON CUTTING

On Friday, July 22, at 10:30 am there will be a ribbon-cutting for Coco’s Cake & Bake y Mas. They are located on the corner of Hwy 90 and Lowes St.

MOTH NIGHT OUT

The Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting the annual Moth Night Out Event in conjunction with National Moth Week on Saturday, July 23 starting at 9:00 pm. Moth activity should start up around 9:30. There will not be a presentation this year but in addition to the normal light set-up, a couple of trees near the lights will be baited hoping to attract some different moths. We have seen over 1,000 species at this location over the years. The office will be open but remember to bring fluids as it will be very hot. The Refuge is located at 601 FM 1011 Liberty, TX. OLIVE BETHEL BACK-TO-SCHOOL EVENT

Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church will be sponsoring the Back-To-School event packed with valuable information, giveaways, and prayer day for all ages. The event is on Saturday, July 23 from 10:30am to 3pm. The special event for parents is “How to Prepare Your Child for A Successful School Year.” There will be Financial Literacy, Career & College Preparation, Job Finding Skills, and information about job opportunities for the teenagers and a special session for three-to-five-year olds and youth six to twelve, all beginning at 10:30am and ending at 11:30am. Lunch will be provided after the sessions as well as outdoor activities, indoor fun and games, food, and drinks. Towards the end, there will be a Back to School Prayer for the schools and the community. School supplies, backpacks, and more will be given away. Those who attend the morning sessions will be considered first.

REPUBLICAN OPEN HOUSE

The Liberty County Republican Party will be holding an Open House and Organizational Meeting, Monday, July 25. The Open House will be at 6 pm with the meeting following at 6:30 pm. This event will be located at 623 Main, Ste 8 in Liberty. For more information, email lcrptx@gmail.com.

HARDIN HELPING HANDS SUPPLY DRIVE

Hardin Helping Hands is hosting their Back-To-School Supply Drive for the Hardin ISD 2022-2023 school year. Shop online at Amazon with access to the HISD School Supply List. The AmazonSmile Charity List: JULY 2022 BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE OR drop off supplies at HISD campuses beginning July 25 through July 28 from 9am to 3 pm.

TRINITY BAPTIST VBS

Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton is having their Vacation Bible School from July 25 to July 28. The VBS will begin at 9 am until noon. Boys and girls ages three through fifth grade are invited to join the bible adventures, exciting games, experiments, music, and crafts. DAYTON CHAMBER NEW TEACHER’S LUNCHEON

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce will host its annual New Teacher’s Luncheon on Tuesday, July 26th at 11:30 AM at the Dayton Community Center. The chamber is excited to welcome the new DISD teachers to the Dayton community. The speaker will be the DISD superintendent, Dr. Jessica Johnson. You can help welcome the new teachers by donating promotional items for their swag bags, donating a door prize for a new teacher, purchasing a ticket to attend the event, or being a sponsor. MT. CALVARY CLOTHING GIVEAWAY

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church invites all area families to a FREE clothing (all sizes), household items and school supplies giveaway. This event will be Wednesday, July 27 through Saturday, July 30 from 9 am to 3 pm each day. Mt. Calvary is located at 2988 HWY 105 East (3 miles East of Moss Hill). CLEVELAND FOOD TRUCK FUSION

The Cleveland Civic Center and CVB and Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce will be bringing the Food Truck Fusion back in a new and exciting way. This event will be set up at a new downtown location (on the old fire station lot), 106 West Hanson St, Cleveland, TX 77327, with shorter, more convenient hours and maybe a few surprises. It will occur on the last Thursday of each month; July 28, and August 25 from 11 am to 1 pm with limited time pop-up events.

BACKPACK GIVEAWAY

The Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, in conjunction with the Magnificent 10 and Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church, is hosting a Back To School Backpack Giveaway. They will be giving out 200 backpacks to Liberty ISD students on July 30, from 11 pm to 1 pm. CLEVELAND BACK-TO-SCHOOL GIVEAWAY

The Cleveland Civic Center will be hosting the Back to School Spectacular, Saturday, August 5 from 5pm to 7pm. There will be a free backpack and school supplies giveaway. A child must be present to receive supplies. The Cleveland Civic Center is located at 210 Peach Ave.

LEE COLLEGE BACK-TO-SCHOOL CELEBRATION

Kick off your fall with a fresh start at the Lee College Education Center - South Liberty County. The address is 1715 HWY 146 Bypass, Liberty, TX 77575.

The Back-to-School Celebration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13 will feature a DJ, kids’ activities, immunizations including meningitis, a health fair, an open house, college & workforce class information, a grocery giveaway, and door prizes.

2022 TVE BABY PARADE

The Trinity Valley Exposition will be hosting their annual Baby Parade through downtown Liberty on Main Street Saturday, October 15 at 10 am. This year’s theme is “DECADES”. 2022 TVE BBQ COOKOFF

Trinity Valley Exposition asks that the community join them for another fun filled weekend of cooking and fun at the annual BBQ Cook-Off starting October 14 at 8 am and ending October 16 at 10 am. It will be at the TVE Fairgrounds, 321 FM 563 (Wallisville Road) in Liberty. The cost to reserve a space, which is 40x40 in size, before October 7 is $120.00 per team, after October 7 is $170.00. This event is free to the community. Your team cannot charge the public to enter your space. HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week Tuesday-Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. DAYTON OLD SCHOOL MUSEUM

The Dayton Old School Museum is open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturdays. The museum is located at 111 W. Houston St. in Dayton.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Tuesday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is located at 656 CR 2010 in Hardin, Texas.

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS

Trust the process. Narcotics Anonymous meets every Monday and Wednesday at 7 pm at 424 Main Street in Liberty, next to Jax Hamburgers. For more information, call 254-716-9965.

COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR

The City of Liberty has Coffee with the Mayor on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 am in council chambers.

As the legislative branch of the City of Ames government, the City Council holds open public meetings where local laws, policies, and fundamental decisions for the city are discussed and decided. City Council members are elected at large.

All members are elected at large. The regularly called meetings of the Liberty City Council are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. Special called meetings are typically held on the fourth Tuesday of each month; however, meetings may be reached at any time to conduct necessary business.

PLUM GROVE CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Second Monday of each month

Meetings start at 7:00 pm at City Hall.
