First Liberty Bank will be hosting a movie night Friday, July 28. The event will start at 5:30 and the movie will begin at 6:30 pm. There will be free admission for all ages. Encanto will be playing. This event will be held at the Dayton Community Center.

FAMILY FUN FEST

Tarkington Community Library will host a family fun fest on July 29 from 9 am to 4 pm. There will be drinks, desserts, popcorn, snow cones, snacks, games, a bounce house, a petting zoo, a silent auction, and lots of vendors. For more information, contact 281-592-5136.

OLD FASHION GOSPEL

Hardin Methodist Church is hosting an Old Fashion Gospel Singing. This event will take place on Saturday, July 29, from 4 to 6 pm at 1005 FM 834 W, Liberty, Texas 7757. All area churches are invited to participate.

MOTH NIGHT OUT

Trinity River Refuge invites you and a friend to their Annual Moth Night Out on Saturday, July 29, starting around 9 pm. The Refuge has surpassed the 1,000 species mark, as finding the new species is getting difficult. Fortunately, 18 new ones have been discovered in 2023. The date has been changed due to Stuart being selected as a Board of Directors for the Lepidopterists’ Society which will have the annual meeting the week before this moth night out event. The Trinity River Refuge hopes to see many of you and your friends attend.

HARDIN FISH CAMP

Hardin High School will have a Fish Camp for all incoming Freshmen on Monday, July 31, from 12:20 to 2:45 pm. There will be games, activities, and lots of fun. They will also review important information, such as addressing schedules/ schedule changes and grades.

BACKPACK GIVEAWAY

Liberty County Pct. 6 Constable Office will be having its Annual Backpack Giveaway on Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 5 to 7 pm. This event will be held at 1680 County Road 3549 Cleveland. For more information contact Zack Harkness at 281-593-8438.

BACK TO SCHOOL SPECTACULAR The City of Cleveland will host their annual Back to School Spectacular on August 4 from 5 to 7 pm. This event will allow students from Kindergarten to fifth grade to get lots of free school supplies to stock up before the start of the school year. To receive these supplies, the child must be present. The event will be held at the Cleveland Civic Center.

TEACHER SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE Dayton American Legion Post 512 is hosting a supply drive for Dayton ISD teachers on August 9 from Noon to 4 pm. You will donate the list of supplies and then nominate a DISD Elementary Teacher. To nominate your favorite DISD teacher, email bcsschroalp512@gmail.com. Please attach the teacher’s name, the name of the school they teach, the teacher’s contact information to notify them when they win, and the reason you nominated that teacher. The following supplies are needed, #2 pencils, scissors, wipes, tissues, cardstock paper, construction paper, pencil erasers, glue sticks, and mini water bottles. FUMC BLOOD DRIVE

First United Methodist Church Liberty, along with Life Share Blood Centers, will be hosting a blood drive, Thursday, Aug. 17, from 3 to 7 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall, 539 Main Street, Liberty. Anyone who has not donated whole blood in the last 56 days, or double red cells in the last 112 days, is eligible. By donating blood, you are truly giving the gift of life. BLOOD DRIVE

Houston Methodist will visit the Liberty County Sheriff ’s Department for a blood drive on Thursday, August 31, from 10 am to 2 pm. It will be held in the meeting room. CONVERSATIONS & BREAKFAST Pastor Ken Davis from Calvary Baptist Church in Dayton invites everyone to talk to him or pray with him on Friday mornings from 8:30 am to 12 pm at MacDonald’s. You bring the conversation, and he buys the breakfast. You are also more than welcome to send him a Facebook message to leave a prayer request for him.

FIRST SUNDAY JAM

The first Sunday of each month, Cleveland VFW is sponsoring “The First Sunday” jam hosted by the Loose Change Band from 1–5 pm. Bring your axe and your talent. Musicians wanted. There will be food available.

SENIOR LUNCHEON

YARN CLUB

On the third Tuesday of every month, a Senior Breakfast will be held at the Dayton Community Center at 9 am. Donations are welcomed. Thrif-tee Food Center will sponsor the breakfast.

The City of Dayton will host Dominos 42 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am -12 pm at the Dayton Senior Center. If you are not into “42”, then bring some friends. There will be plenty of cards and dominos at the Senior Center. You can start a new group!

HARDIN SENIOR CITIZENS

The Hardin Senior Citizens meet at the Hardin Community Center each week, Tuesday- Friday the center opens at 8:30 am for anyone wanting a little breakfast at no charge or just to swing in to visit. CELEBRATE RECOVERY

The Family Church in Hardin hosts Celebrate Recovery, a weekly class every Friday at 7 pm. If you know someone who needs this class, please share this information with them. This is a Bible-based recovery program for alcohol, drugs, codependency, anger management, etc. The Family Church is at 9456 HWY 146 N in Hardin, Texas.
