The Dayton Chamber of Commerce held an event on Mar. 2 at the Dayton Community Center in honor of first responders.

The special luncheon also featured a special message from U.S. Congressman Dr. Brian Babin and guest speaker and former U.S. Black-hawk Helicopter Pilot Elizabeth McCormick. McCormick spoke to the crowd in attendance about flying a Blackhawk Helicopter and how it has translated into her daily life. She encouraged the audience with an interactive experience in order to demonstrate how to overcome obstacles and fear during tough times. She ended her presentation with the guidance of overcoming fear and being able to accomplish goals.

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce also presented awards for the Police Officer and Firefighter of The Year. Police Officer of The Year was awarded to Jasmine Fontenot and Firefighter of The Year was awarded to Paul Doskocil.
