The Chambers County Youth Project Show has brought plenty of thrills this year and Waverly Mills took part in the big Horse Show over the weekend.

WALLISVILLE— The 2025 Chambers County Youth Project Show is in the home stretch with many of the activities in the books and this week focus turns to the kids projects and auction.

The livestock and project shows will take place from Wednesday, April 30 to Saturday, May 3.

Wednesday will feature commercial and F-1 heifers, and Thursday will feature breeding beef, ag mechanics and swine shows.

Friday will feature broilers, market rabbits, breeding rabbits, lambs, goats, steer and commercial steer.

Saturday is auction day, with the buyer dinner and check-in beginning at 3 p.m. The auction will begin at 5 p.m.

There will be multiple scrambles throughout, helping the next generation of ranchers to develop their skills and knowledge in the livestock industry.

The Greased Pig Scramble will be on Thursday at 5 p.m., and the large and small animal scrambles will be on Saturday at 3 p.m.

It'll be a tough competition, with 14 participants for the large animal category, 16 participants for the small animal category and five for the greased pig category.

Every scramble participant who catches and “Hard Luck” recipients will receive funds, split into two payments, to help raise their livestock for the 2026 CCYPS. Exhibit participants are required to submit monthly reports on their progress.

Large animal participants must show cattle at the 2026 CCYPS. Small animal participants must show a pig, lamb, or goat next year. The Greased Pig Scramble is open to 5 to 8-year-olds and they must show poultry or rabbits at next year’s CCYPS.

Livestock show participants will have the opportunity to participate in the stall decorating contest, displaying their creativity while creating a welcoming environment for attendees.

There are two contest categories: large and small animals. Criteria include stall cleanliness, creativity of decor, and exhibitor and animal identification.

Anonymous judges will visit throughout the week and public voting will be available online. Awards can be earned as a group or as an individual.

For any questions, call the CCYPS office at 409-267-2692.

Events will take place at the White Memorial Park Arena at 222 White Memorial Park Road, Wallisville.
