ANAHUAC— Chambers Liberty Counties Navigation District met last week, briefly discussing a proposed channel in Galveston Bay and Trinity Bay.

CLCND held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 24, where CLCND General Manager Claudia Sandoval gave an update on the Cedar Port Navigation and Improvement District’s proposed federal channel in the two bays.

Sandoval said she is waiting on the Port of Houston to contact the district, adding that the port wants to meet with CPNID to discuss a few concerns.

“At this point, I don’t know how much it affects us,” Commissioner Brady Hanson said. “We’re just the landlord.”

Sandoval reported to the board that CLCND received a $300,000 check for the Turning Basin 10-year easement.

After a bit of discussion, commissioners decided to reappoint Dennis Beasley to the Port of Liberty Board of Commissioners.

Commissioner Frank Jordan noted that Beasley has extensive experience, citing his first appointment to the board in 2003.
