Community-wide Thanksgiving
ANAHUAC— One can almost smell the freshly baked pumpkin pie and taste the deliciously sweet ham as Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
This year, like many years before, the Mid-Chambers County Ministerial Alliance is gearing up for its annual Community Thanksgiving event.
The Ministerial Alliance will host its 11th Annual Community Thanksgiving event on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 5 p.m., inviting anyone and everyone to enjoy a bit of worship with plenty of holiday food.
New Covenant Fellowship typically prepares the turkey each year, and other churches around the area provide traditional Thanksgiving sides.
"We're just trying to break down the denomination walls and just come and serve the community the best we can," said Community Christian Fellowship Pastor Mark Pagels previously.
Pastors and volunteers serve guests from beverages to dinner to dessert.
"Part of our overall purpose as a ministerial alliance is to show the love of Jesus Christ to our community, not only through our words but also through our actions," said Sheri Phelps previously.
The Mid-Chambers County Ministerial Alliance supports the community in various ways, including distributing a Bible to each graduating senior, hosting an Easter sunrise service, and conducting vacation Bible school each summer. Other services include building wheelchair ramps, community clean-ups and providing a choir for Anahuac's Christmas parade.
Community Thanksgiving will be at Anahuac Primary School, 2024 Belton Lane, Anahuac.
