HARDIN – The East Chambers Lady Buccaneers gave it their all on Friday afternoon in Hardin before falling to the Lady Hornets in three games, 30-28, 25-12, 25-20, in the district opener for both teams.

The opening game of the match was pivotal, and had East Chambers been able to pull it out, things might have been different in the match.

The Lady Buccaneers trailed early on 9-5 before a tip by Mikela Quave made it 9-6. Kyra Perrymen then scored with a block/kill to make it 14-11.

Moments later, it was kills by McKenzie Tinkle and Quave and East Chambers had tied the game at 18 apiece.

The Lady Buccaneers continued their run and a pair of aces by Makayla Montoya, and then a kill by Tinkle had East Chambers ahead 23-18.

Hardin fought back, and after a 6-1 run, the game was tied at 24.

The Lady Buccaneers had leads of 26-25 and 27-26 thanks to kills by Perrymen, but they could not put away the Lady Hornets, who would go on to win game one.

Early on in game two, East Chambers stayed close as a block/kill by Quave and then a kill by Jayda Leday had the Lady Buccaneers within 9-7.

East Chambers then tied the game at 11 apiece in a kill by Perrymen. Hardin then got it going and went on a 9-1 run to lead 20-12.

The Lady Hornets finished off game two with the next five points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Hardin won the third game 25-20 to win the match.

East Chambers will be back in action on Friday afternoon as they head to Kountze.
