HOUSTON– A multiagency law enforcement effort, including the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, has taken 400 kilograms of methamphetamines off area streets.

Sheriff Bruan Hawthorne reported via Facebook post on Friday, Oct. 24, that a joint investigation by the DEA Galveston Resident Office, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Galveston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Houston Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations resulted in the significant seizure of drugs in Houston.

“This is a huge victory against the Mexican Drug Cartels and their local minions in our efforts to eliminate dangerous drug trafficking in our communities and an excellent collaboration between agencies. Let this be an example to all those attempting to traffic drugs in our area that law enforcement takes this threat seriously and will work together to take it down,” Hawthorne said in a statement.
