Navigation District talks maintenance
ANAHUAC— The Chambers-Liberty Counties Navigation District held its regular May meeting last week to discuss routine business.
CLCND held its meeting on Tuesday, May 20, discussing maintenance and various interlocal agreements.
CLCND General Manager Claudia Sandoval provided an update on canal operations. Pipes and gates were installed to provide water to farmers and regular canal cleaning was conducted for regular maintenance.
Sandoval said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers informed her that a budget of $4.15 million was approved to conduct dredging and hydraulic surveying of the Double Bayou Channel. The Corps will go out for bidding.
The board approved the interlocal agreement with Ceder Port Navigation and Improvement District for the marine dock facility and deep-water channel easement property.
CLCND renewed the management agreement with Galveston Bay Foundation for another 10 years. The foundation manages the Turtle Bayou Nature Preserve for the district.
CLCND will again participate in the Anahuac Municipal Development District’s Summer Job Training Program this year.
