Old rival lends a hand
ANAHUAC—As the volleyball season approaches, athletes are participating in summer camps around the area, and for Anahuac, a familiar face from a long-time rival switched court sides to lend a hand.
Long-time Hardin High School coach Regina Snell held a two-day summer camp on Wednesday, July 23, and Thursday, July 24, with the help of Anahuac Head Coach Kristin Hart to prepare the girls for the upcoming season.
"I truly feel blessed to have her help out with all her wisdom and knowledge," Hart said.
Recently retired, Snell finished her 27-year run at Hardin with some incredible numbers. Notably, Snell had 716 career wins, averaging 26.5 wins per year.
Snell's teams celebrated 20 district championships, 23 playoff appearances, five regional semifinals, three regional quarterfinals and three regional finals.
With Snell sharing a bit of her knowledge, the camp encompassed a range of skills, including setting, blocking, and serving drills, among others.
"Anyone that needs, I'll help if I can," Snell said, adding that she would entertain the idea of a camp in the future.
Workouts were split between freshmen and sophomores in the morning and juniors and seniors in the afternoon.
While most attendees were Anahuac girls, there were several athletes from the surrounding area that attended the camp.
This week, Hart hosted a pair of camps for freshmen and middle school students.
