Last holiday season, Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cauley (left), Deputy Kash, Detective Orlando and K9 Deputy Lunsford join Blue Santa at Cactus Jack’s Restaurant to collect toy donations for Operation Blue Santa.

The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Operation Blue Santa is back, with two planned dates to bring the community together for good food and conversation, all while helping children have the best Christmas possible.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, CCSO will be at Cactus Jack’s Restaurant from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Dec. 5, the crew will be at Casa Julia from 6 to 9 p.m.

Those in attendance may even have a chance to visit with a blue-clad Santa Claus and the Grinch as they help the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office spread the Christmas spirit.

The program helps CCSO spread holiday cheer each year, bringing toys and essentials to children and families in need across the county.

CCSO has already begun accepting new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children ages 1-18, and the last day to make a physical donation is Sunday, Dec. 7.

Donation boxes are already in place in the front lobbies of the following locations:

Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, 201 N. Court St., Anahuac

West Annex, 10616 Eagle Dr., Mont Belvieu

East Annex, 924 Texas 124, Winnie

CCSO is also accepting monetary donations through Venmo at @CCSOCAAA.

Sheriff’s offices and police departments throughout the country participate in the Blue Santa Program.

For the program, the sheriff’s office contacts school counselors in the county, such as those in the Barbers Hill, Anahuac, and East Chambers ISDs, to gather information about families interested in participating. The sheriff’s office collects ages, genders, and clothing sizes to ensure gifts are correctly matched to the children.

At the end of collecting donations, the sheriff’s office will compare what they have to their list to see what is still needed. The office will then use money donations to fill in the gaps.

Blue Santa delivers wrapped gifts to parents a few days before Christmas so that they can provide for their children.

For those interested in attending either event, Cactus Jack’s is located at 13225 Interstate 10 E., Baytown, and Casa Julia is located at 12629 Interstate 10 E., Mont Belvieu.

The sheriff’s office typically has members of the CCSO Explorers Program to assist with Operation Blue Santa.

The program is designed to provide hands-on experience for those interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field. Participants can be 14 to 21 years old. For questions or for more information on the program, email ccsoexplorers@chamberstx.gov.
