LAKE CHARLES– The East Chambers Buccaneers crossed the Texas-Louisiana border on Saturday to face St. Amant in the Border Battle as they fell to the Gators 71-59.

St. Amant jumped out to a 13-4 lead before a bucket by Cameron Dillard made it 13-6.

On the next trip down the floor, Dillard scored again for the Buccaneers, and the score was 13-8. The Gators led 17-12 after the opening quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Evan Callahan scored a bucket, and East Chambers was within 17-14.

Dayvon Wallace followed that up with a bucket, and the Buccaneers were hanging in at 19-16.

St. Amant then scored the next five points to build their lead to 24-16.

East Chambers answered with a Wallace and Colby West bucket to pull within 24-20.

The Gators then closed the half on a 12-6 run to lead 36-26 at the break.

The third period was not a kind one for the Buccaneers as St. Amant started the second half on an 8-0 run to build their advantage to 44-26. The lead grew to 51-28 until West connected from downtown, making it 51-31.

The third quarter ended with the Gators leading 62-37.

Trailing by 25 entering the final quarter, East Chambers put together their best quarter of the day and outscored St. Amant 22-9, but the deficit was too big as the Buccaneers fell 71-59.

East Chambers will travel to Onalaska on Tuesday night.
