Time running out to donate to book drive
ANAHUAC– A community effort dubbed "Books are the Building Blocks of the Future" is nearing its end, and the community has rallied around the project in an effort to collect books for local schools.
Anahuac National Bank has partnered with the Anahuac ISD Education Foundation on the campaign to benefit students at each school in the Anahuac Independent School District.
The program got underway with a $7,500 donation from the bank itself, hoping to kickstart the program aimed at building a stronger future.
"We know books provide students with the opportunity to be challenged, enlightened, and transformed. We are here to support our schools today and into the future," said ANB President and CEO Ken Moore at the start of the campaign.
The initiative is the largest that the education foundation has ever undertaken, with hopes of raising $50,000. These efforts align with the organization's past work as they strive to enhance learning opportunities across Anahuac schools.
"At the Anahuac ISD Education Foundation, we are driven to transform our students through the creation of new knowledge and to transform the lives of our students by expanding access to high quality, affordable education," said AISD EF President Hannah Vaughan. "We believe the impact of this book campaign will be felt every day at every campus."
The drive wraps up Friday, May 22, and can be made in honor of or in memory of family or friends.
