Work continues, as do headaches for drivers along Interstate 10 at the Trinity River and Old & Lost River bridges.

Last week, the Texas Department of Transportation provided updates on the work completed in January thus far.

For the week of Jan. 5, Crews prepped the surface of the bridges by blasting, grinding, removing old stripes, and setting up forms for a polymer overlay.

Work shifted to overnight hours on the eastbound side of Interstate 10.

Last week, Ragle Construction began smoothing and grooving the inside two lanes of the Trinity River bridge to prepare for final striping, expected to finish in the next couple of weeks.

In the press release, TxDOT explained that the type of work conducted does not allow for 24/7 work, as each phase builds on the next. Some of the repairs are underneath the bridges, so crews may not always be seen by the public.

The project is expected to be completed two months ahead of schedule, but the timeline is subject to change depending on the weather.
