On Monday night, the Liberty County Republican Party welcomed Texas Senator Bob Hall for a viewing and discussion of the documentary “Grid Down, Power Up” at the Dayton Community Center. The documentary outlines why electrical grid security is so important and the things we must do to achieve that security.

Senator Hall has served Texas Senate District 2 since 2015. Among other things, he is passionate about securing the Texas electrical grid and has worked on legislation that would increase reliability and resiliency of the Texas grid but he has not received needed support from the Texas House of Representatives. He discussed how man-made and/or natural events, such as electromagnetic pulses, could trigger catastrophic events that would lead to the end of modern society as we know it. According to Senator Hall, “At the end of the day, if we talk about the situation without solving it by ensuring the resiliency of the electric grid–no matter what the threat–the legislature will continue to bear the responsibility in crises such as these.”
