Dayton ISD Broncos Blooms Floral Department attended the Hudson Floral Nest Competition.

DAYTON — This competition challenged the students to create a hand-tied wedding bouquet with materials they received from contest officials.

The contestants were given only 45 minutes to create and design their wedding bouquets. After the first round, the top 20 moved on to compete in round two.

This was a surprise situation that they had to problem-solve. Dayton High School had two students, Kira Logan and Chesnie Payne, advance to round two. In the second round, the girls had to create a wedding arrangement using a wooden triangle as a prop in one hour.

The entries were judged by the principles and elements of floral design that students learned in class. Kira and Chesnie placed 3rd and 5th respectively.

Will Felder, principal of Dayton High School, stated, “We are extremely proud of them! Most students can create an arrangement that their teacher walks them step by step through, but these students showed their creativity and design skills by using their own knowledge and talent! Great job, DHS!”
