Dayton ISD Teachers Honored

Several Dayton ISD teachers were honored at the 37th Annual Houston Area Alliance Black School Educators Awards, on Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Bayou City Event Center. All seven campuses had a HAABSE Teacher of the Year representative for this special occasion.

Dr. Rhonda Mason, HAABSE President, and Dr. Brenda Dearmon, HAABSE President-Elect, along with subcommittee chairs, held a phenomenal event with over 1300 attendees. Approximately 300 teachers were recognized in the greater Houston area for being HAABSE Teachers of the Year.

Not only were the Teachers of the Year honored, Sheree Bogany, Scholarship and Sponsorships Chair, also announced eighteen scholarship winners. Dayton High School senior, JaOnna White, was a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. Bogany thanked the various sponsors from numerous companies and businesses that supported this event and the scholarships.
