The Dayton Noon Lions Club held its most recent meeting over lunch at the Kountry Kitchen in Dayton. Topics on the agenda included money jars, governor’s dinner, wheelchair ramp assistance, lunch on the run, and trunk or treat events.

Shelia Thomas, the Lions Club Executive Director of District 2- S2, was introduced as a guest speaker. Thomas gave a presentation covering this year’s Texas Lions Camp ( TLC), which allows children with disabilities to create new friendships and find passions while participating in various activities. Over 1,500 children attend TLC each summer, and throughout the years, more than 79,000 children with disabilities and Type 1 diabetes have participated in the camp, according to the TLC website.

“It’s an opportunity for these kids to make friends and take in new experiences,” Thomas said. “ There are countless activities at the camp for these kids to enjoy.”

The date for Texas Lions Camp 2024 hasn’t been decided yet, but you can go to their website to begin their application process and search for more information.
