The Dayton Noon Lions Club recently hosted District 2- S2 Lions District Governor Neil Lander and wife Karen, 1st Vice-District Governor Bill Simpson, 2nd Vice-District Governor Mike George and wife Jo at The Hitchin’ Post Event Center, located a few miles north of Dayton off FM1008.

During the meeting SVDG George and Club President Susan Giberson took the occasion to present Charter Members Betty Williamson, Norbet Westmoreland and Larry Harris with pins and patches.

The pins were in recognition of the three being the only remaining active founding members still involved with the club. The patches were in recognition of the three having served as Lions for the past 35 years. Dayton Noon Lions Club’s 35th Anniversary was on March 30, 2023.

Harris was also presented with a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award that was awarded to him by the club earlier this year.

District Governor Lander spoke to the club concerning Lions Clubs International’s “1.5” project which is a five year goal to reach a worldwide membership of 1.5 million members. The club was shown where it has excelled during the past couple of years and areas were described that still need work.

Currently, the Dayton Noon Lions are planning a spaghetti dinner during the first half of November with exact date, time and place to be forthcoming.
