DAYTON — The Dayton community now has 16 rustic sculptures of Broncos stampeding through the underpass on Texas Highway 321.

The Dayton Enhancement Committee partnered with the Dayton Rotary Club to take on the project after receiving approval from TxDOT and the city council earlier this year.

“Kimmy Wood, an honorary committee fabricated the metal Bronco’s, and the committee liked the rustic look and the durability,” said Susan Simmons.

Each Bronco measures 6’x9’ and weighs 500 lbs. It was all funded by a private sponsor, which means no taxpayer money was used, and each sponsor is also recognized on four large stars in the underpass.

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at 11: 30 a.m., at the Thrif-Tee Food Center parking lot in Dayton.
