Dayton Candidates Forum

Candidates for the Dayton City Council came out Monday night for a forum hosted by the Dayton Chamber of Commerce. The chamber gave citizens from Dayton an opportunity to submit questions ahead of the event and Dayton Chamber Executive Director Jessica Sims served as the emcee for the night.

Five of the six candidates vying for two offices on the council were in attendance with, the two candidates for Position 4; Andy Conner and D.G. “Bubba” Graves, both attending, as well Position 5 candidates; Alvin Burres, Jose Hernandez and Valerie Barton attended, Janette Goulder-Frick was unable to make it to the forum.

Candidates were asked a wide range of questions facing the City of Dayton and how they would best deal with the most pressing of issues if elected, while others focused on the growth of the city and infrastructure of the community moving forward.

Voting for the upcoming election will begin with Early Voting, April 19-23, from 9 am – 5 pm at the Dayton Community Center, it will continue April 26-27 from 7 am – 7 pm, and Election Day will be Sat., May 1 from 7 am – 7 pm.
