Leadership East Texas seeking candidates

Do you believe you have what it takes and are dedicated to becoming a leader locally, then Leadership East Texas, INC. (LET) may just be the next step in your journey. LET is a 501(c)(3) non-profit looking to help develop current and future leaders to serve better the communities of Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, and northern Montgomery County.

The Mission of LET is to identify candidates and provide them with both educational and practical experiences to develop leaders, facilitate relationship building, and encourage the exchange of ideas between community leaders.

The program is the brainchild of longtime area resident Jay Rice and Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce COO Jim Carson.

Carson brings several years in leadership training to the fold.

“We are trying to grow local leaders,” said Carson.

The course will be a six-month process with classes held on the third Tuesday of Sept., Oct., and Nov. of 2021, and Jan., Feb., and March of 2022.

Courses will cover several facets that are key to the process of leadership development, such as visioning, community leadership, building relationships, emotional intelligence, change management, productive conflict, communication and social media, and service to the community. The course will culminate in a graduation ceremony.

Not only will participants learn some of the necessary skills that will assist them as leaders, but they will learn about the community they serve and build relationships, according to Carson.

LET is also looking for investors to help facilitate the program, reduce the cost to those participating, and allow for the recruitment of quality candidates to help ensure the best possible leadership candidates in the community.

Space is limited, with only four spots remaining. To find out about one of the remaining spots, you can contact Carson at 281-592-8786 or email j.carson@clevelandtxchamber.com.
