This past Friday evening, the City of Cleveland held their Backpack Giveaway, giving away many brand new backpacks to local school kids. The city had received 1,000 backpacks through donations to give away at the event.

Though they gave out a lot, there were still more than 300 left, and they will be handing those out, first come first served at the Cleveland Civic Center at 210 Peach Ave. from 9 am – 4 pm, Aug. 9 – Aug. 13, or until they run out.

The City of Cleveland wants to thank Whataburger, Health Center of Southeast Texas, City Staff, Cleveland Fire Dept., Chris Trotter - CISD, Dairy Day, and numerous other volunteers for participating in the event.
