Weeks after a family lost everything on Halloween, friends and family, hope to give them a reason to give thanks this year by raising funds to help out.

On the morning of Oct. 31, the Harlow family lost their home in Livingston after Spencer Harlow had left to take his son Austin to work in Daisetta. Spencer’s stepson, Jasper, had helped his brother and sister escape the fire and then informed his dad of the situation.

A faulty stove may have caused the fire, according to the family.

The Harlow family, formerly from Liberty County, now has to deal with another unfortunate event after coping with the death of Sonya Harlow only a few years ago. Sonya passed away only months after giving birth to her and Spencer’s child.

Spencer and his family are currently living in a hotel, which is covered by his homeowner’s insurance policy, but the family needs assistance with other expenses for everyday items and clothing.

Family friend Nancy Davie has established a GoFundMe account to help pay for the family’s expenses while they sort things out with their insurance company. Visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/spencer-harlow-veteran-house-fire.
