DAYTON — Nothing beats a great treat, and now folks have a new spot in town to grab something to satisfy that urge.

Sweet Scoops recently opened its doors, and they are ready to serve up a full array of treats to the community, with over 36 flavors of ice cream, fruit cups and the always popular corn in a cup.

Owners Juan Carranco and Alex Perez shared the vision and teamed up to bring the business to the community to offer everyone a place to enjoy a treat and unwind as a family in a place they describe as a Marble Slab meets a fresqueria.

“The main thing we are hoping is to bring the community a new flavor, a new place for everybody to get together with their families,” Carranco said.

Carranco is excited to have the opportunity to continue giving back to the community that welcomed him with open arms over 25 years ago and is excited to hire locals to man the store. To date, he has employed 11 and has plans to add more.

“To me, Dayton is my home and took my family and me in, back in ‘96. This is my way of giving back to them,” Carranco said. “To me, it’s just a big accomplishment to be part of this community.”

As for Carranco’s favorite at Sweet Scoops, he is a big fan of the Agua frescas and says they are all fantastic.

“Everything is so good,” Carranco said.

As for the ice cream itself, again, you can choose from 36 flavors and know that it’s not just any ice cream, as they have partnered with the Quiroz family out of Beaumont to provide their one-of-akind product.

The doors officially opened last month, and the community celebrated the opening last Friday, March 1, at a ribbon- cutting ceremony hosted by the Dayton Chamber of Commerce.

Attendees were treated to the brightly adorned atmosphere, where visitors can check out a fantastic Dayton Broncos-inspired mural by Meek Cherry Artistry. Carranco and Perez were highly thankful for the work that went into the artwork.

The duo was grateful to Gene McDowell and Arnold Construction for the amazing work that went into the buildout.
