Dayton City Council officially approved the selection of Chad L. Glatfelter as the newest Chief of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. He became the youngest chief in the department’s history, beginning his career at the age of 18; Glatfelter just received his 10-year service award and will be entering his 11th year with the department in February.

A lifelong resident of Dayton and graduate of Dayton High School, Glatfelter has served the past year as assistant chief. His fellow members elected him earlier this month to lead the department.

“Dayton Fire Department has a great group of guys, and I look forward to working with them,” said Glatfelter.

He continues a family tradition started by his father, Bobby Glatfelter, who served with the department for 24 years before his retirement. Glatfelter is married to Stormi, and the couple has a son named Gage.

Glatfelter is grateful to everyone that has contributed to his role as a firefighter and had great respect for those that came before him at the department.

“I would like to thank former chiefs Boyett, Green, and Piserelle,” he concluded.
