Candidates continue filing as deadline approaches

  • Article Image Alt Text

As the deadline to signup for the 2022 Primary Election nears, candidates have been filing for a place on the Republican Party ballot. To this point, every incumbent had already filed the necessary paperwork seeking re-election, with only Liberty County Commissioner Pct. 4 Leon Wilson having had an opponent in former County Judge Craig McNair.

Another candidate has now officially drawn an opponent, with District Clerk Delia Sellers receiving a challenge from Miranda Litton Hulvey for that seat.

Republicans control every elected position in the county, except for Justice of the Peace Pct. 2, which 10 time Democrat incumbent Ronnie Davis currently holds. Now Pam Smith has filed to run for that position as a Republican in the upcoming primary. Any candidate interest

Any candidate interested in a place on the upcoming ballot has until Monday, Dec. 13, to file the proper paperwork.
