Golf Course Updates Currently, con

Currently, contractors are behind schedule on the Liberty Municipal Golf Course, with work remaining on the greens and completion of the cart paths still underway. The project was initially expected to be completed by May 31 but should be ready by the Fall. The City of Liberty is charging the contractors $1,500 per day for liquidated damages and withholding a $370,000 retainer due upon completion.

Street Rehab Project

Unlike the golf course, contractors are ahead of schedule on the city’s street rehabilitation project. Work on the Avenues, Westwood, Independence, Lincoln, Beaumont Ave, Pleasant Hill, Melonson, Minglewood, Chesson, and Tanner have been completed.

Work will continue on CR 1660, Still Meadow, Black Oak, Hough, McManus, Sandune, Fort Worth, Confederate, Tennesee, Carter, Santa Anna, N. Travis, Heights, and Monta streets throughout the Summer.

Possible Power Outages

City officials want residents to be aware of the possibility of an electric shedding event in the Liberty area. The Midcontinent System Operator (MISO), which runs the power grid through eastern Texas, is currently under an alert. In the event that Liberty is called on to shed electricity, there will be outages through portions of the city as required by MISO.

LCDC Board

City Council reappointed Barbara Norwood and Michael Dorsett to the Liberty Economic Development Corporation Tuesday night. Council also voted to appoint Marsha LaFour of Prosperity Bank and Betty Runkle from The Health Fix to the board.
