Liberty seeing extensive economic development

LIBERTY – A lot is happening around town on the economic front, with several businesses preparing to open their doors and a few more set to break ground in the coming weeks.

According to Assistant City Manager Chris Jarmon, several business endeavors are rolling in, and residents will soon see a pair of new car washes, eateries, and more retail space across town.

Work recently got underway off Highway 146 at the location of the new Tidal Wave Auto Spa, which features unlimited wash plans with free vacuums for customers. Jarmon said that another car wash would join the new business just a few blocks down the street.

“ In addition to Tidal Wave, it looks like we will have a second automatic car wash next to Tiki Tanning,” he said.

Another project growing closer to finally opening is the Liberty Central complex on Main Street, with a new self- storage facility, business suites, food truck park and the adjacent Sleep Inn.

“ They have a future space designed for a restaurant, but it will not be built out right now,” said Jarmon.

For anyone that has been missing that chicken from Popeyes, there is good news, the eatery that burned down last year will soon enter the construction phase at the exact location off US 90.

Fast food fans can also expect to see Wendy’s coming to town soon, as they are expected to begin work on US 90 next to Taco Bell.

“Wendy’s and Popeyes will both break ground soon, and PLC will do an office expansion,” said Jarmon.

That expansion will come at the PLC Construction headquarters off Highway 146, where they will expand their offices.

Recently a new T-Mobile location opened in town, bringing one of the nation’s largest cellular phone carriers to the area to serve customers. The new site is at 2017 North Highway, next to Walmart.

On the medical front will see the Fresenius Dialysis Center go in at 2331 N Main next to the cleaners.

Finally, another new retail center is poised to start construction on Main Street near Jefferson Drive, next to the new Dream Furniture location.

With the continued growth in the area, Liberty is sure to see more and more business development in the future.
