HARDIN- Last season Chad Taylor took the Tarkington Longhorns from a winless team in 2021 to a 4-6 record in 2022; now Taylor is heading to Hardin to lead the Hornets football program.

“It’s a move I feel I needed to make now,” said Taylor after Hardin Athletic Director Randy Snell approached him.

“ Randy and I were best man at each other’s wedding, so I feel very comfortable in my move. I feel there are some positives going on, and I look forward to the move.”

The Hornets finished 3- 7 last season, and Taylor thinks Hardin is on the right path and feels they will win some football games in 2023.

With the vacancy of the Tarkington job after the Taylor move, the Longhorns have moved Defensive Coordinator Toby Belt to Head Football Coach and Athletic Director.

“They have a good one right there in Toby,” said Taylor.

“He keeps that familiarity and stability in the program, so I feel Tarkington will be just fine with Toby at the controls.”
