Dayton American Legion and banks send youths to Boys State

Dayton Memorial American Legion Post 512 selected Rafael Martinez and Nolan Myers from  Liberty High School, William Sims Jr. from Hardin High School and Justin Valle from Hull-Daisetta High School to attend this year’s American Legion Boys State program in Austin, June 17-21, a one week intensive education program of government instruction for high school junior upperclassmen. It is a participatory program where each participant becomes part of the operation of his local, county and state government.

The local community banks, Dayton Prosperity Bank, Dayton Allegiance Bank, Dayton First Liberty National Bank, Liberty First Liberty National Bank, Liberty Prosperity Bank, Liberty Allegiance Bank, Liberty Texas First Bank, Hull Texas First Bank and Hardin Bank teamed up with Dayton Memorial Post 512 to help sponsor these young men to attend  this outstanding American Legion program in Austin.

On July 31, Rafael, Nolan and Justin along with American Legion officers visited each one of the banks mentioned above to thank each of the bank presidents and/or bank managers for their sponsorship and presented them with a written account of their experience.The four young men will also address Dayton Memorial Post 512 meeting on Aug. 20.
