Spirit of Christmas Comes to Dayton

Posted in:

It is that time again where the temperatures get a little colder, the lights are a little brighter and the spirit of Christmas is all around. In Dayton that means it is time for the annual good time cheer, as it quite literally is time for the Spirit of Christmas this coming weekend.

The festivities get underway around town this Friday night, Dec. 4 from 5-9pm, as several area small businesses will be taking part in the Dayton Chamber of Commerce’s Cookie Crawl, that gives customers a chance to receive a different delicious cookie at each of the participating businesses. For a full list of participants, you can look at the Chamber website www.daytonchamber.com.

The Dayton Chamber festivities will continue all day Saturday, Dec. 5, as the Nutcracker Market comes to life at the Dayton Community Center starting at 11am, for a variety of great Christmas gift shopping opportunities. There will be over 40 vendors offering unique gift items, homemade crafts, toys, home décor, jewelry and tons more to offer.

Later that night the City of Dayton takes the lead as the annual Christmas parade and lighting of the tree takes place at the community center. The annual parade route will go south on Cleveland, east on Entzminger, north on South Main, turning west on Houston and back down Cleveland to the community center. The parade kicks off at 6pm.

As always folks from around Dayton will then gather for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree and fun activities, food and most importantly Santa Claus makes his way to town. The Dayton Community Center is located at 801 South Cleveland Street in Dayton.
