Two escape from county jail

UPDATE: The two escaped inmates were captured around 3:30 p.m. today in Shepherd.

Two inmates have escaped the Liberty County Jail.

Clay Sterling Harvey, white male, 44, from Nederland, in jail for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and Chance Marshall Hunt, white male, 28, in jail for the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and burglary, were discovered missing during a bed check early this morning.

The two escaped between 4 and 6:15 a.m. The fence on the east side of the jail was cut.

Dogs, TDCJ, Texas Rangers and the Liberty County Sheriff's Office are searching for the escapees.

The public is warned not to approach the escapees if seen, but to contact the Liberty County Sheriff's Office at 936-336-4500 or Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392- STOP (7867). All “tips” to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and a cash reward may be available.
