Christopher Young made his transition to eternity on December 22, 2020 at the age of 57. Christopher was the sixth child of the late Joe Eddis Young and Dorothy Jean Prater Young. He was born at Dayton Memorial Hospital in Dayton, Texas, on October 29,1963.

Chris was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the direction of the Reverend A.D. Jones. As an adult, he rededicated himself and became a devoted member of the Liberty Church of Christ, receiving guidance from elder Bill Cauthorn. With each passing year, he grew in his beliefs, and you could always find an open bible in his home.

Chris attended Dayton area schools and graduated from Dayton High School with the Class of 1982. He previously worked with DISD transportation beginning in 1982. Afterward, he gained employment at LyondellBasell, where he rose to the position of Maintenance Planner prior to his retirement in 2020.

Chris was also active in his community, serving as an agricultural volunteer. He became a proud supporter of the Dayton area 4-H and joined his older brother Richard in developing “The Circle Y Show Team.” He was a major contributor, freely giving his time, guidance, and labor to support the kids in the group.

Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Chris, and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his daughters, Christian, Maghen and Kacie. Chris spent the majority of his time with family and friends, his favorite hobby was fishing with his friends, watching sports and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking a mean cajun coubion and his older sister’s favorite chili recipe.

We will always remember his witty humor and infectious personality. Chris’ presence in our lives will be sorely missed. When you think of Chris, celebrate the good memories you have of him. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. I know he’s in Heaven saying “Oh Really” and high stepping to some music.

Chris was preceded in death by parents Joe Eddis Young and Dorothy Jean Prater Young; brothers Lonnell W. Young Sr. and Rickey E. Young, nephew Lonnell W. Young, Jr., granddaughter Presley Elyse Ibarra. Chris’ grandparents Lillie Mae(Scott) Moss-Clarence Prater and Lissie Mae (Jones) Smith-Marvin Young. And family friend Michael Simmons. Chris is remembered with love by his daughters, Christian Tousant, Maghen (Chris) Ibarra and Kacie Young. PaPa Chris is a proud grandfather of Maddyn Walker, Mia Broussard, Patrick Ibarra, Penelope Ibarra, and expecting another granddaughter by June 2021. He will forever be remembered as an honorable brother to his seven siblings Lynda Young, Larry Young, Richard (Annette) Young, Charlotte (Efrem) Butler, Consuela (Alfred) Jenkins, Travis (Atina) Young and Shelitria (Matthew) Thompson. Chris is survived by his former wife, Lisa Orebo, to which from this union came three daughters they shared and loved.
