Mrs. Whitmire passed from this life and joined her heavenly Father on Friday, Aug. 2, at a care facility in Dayton. Elsie was born Oct. 18, 1944 in Liberty to Ruth and Robert Hollingsworth.
Elsie was born and raised in the Liberty County area. Being a lifelong resident of her home town was something she was very proud of. She was a very faithful Christian woman. When she was able she attended North Main Baptist Church. Mrs. Whitmire was without a doubt a people person. Elsie had never met a stranger and once you became friends, you were always friends. She always greeted you a smile and a kind word. Elsie was at her happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and family. First and foremost she was a mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker and always kept a warm and loving home for her children and grandchildren. Elsie was always a caring and loving lady. Mrs. Whitmire was a sweet soul that will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Robert Ellis Hollingsworth Jr., William Leon Hollingsworth, Harvey Ray Hollingsworth and Albert Jackson Hollingsworth.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Buddy Whitmire; daughter, Lynne Purswell and husband, James Englett; sister, Anna Ruth Locke and husband, Robert; brother, Ron D. Hollingsworth and wife, Frances; grandchildren, Chris Englett, Jamie and husband, Ronald Lee Goodwin; as well as her great-grandchildren, Braden and Trevor.
