L.L. “Zeke” Zbranek,

L.L. “Zeke” Zbranek, age 91, passed away Nov. 19, at Liberty Dayton Regional Hospital.

Zeke was born in Crosby, Nov. 16, 1928, the son of the late Ladislav L. Zbranek and Marie Pecka Zbranek. Zeke was a graduate of Hull-Daisetta High School Class of 1946. After High School, Zeke joined the U.S. Navy serving from 1946-1949. He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad as a telegraph operator for 11 years. He went on to work for the next 29 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Hardin, where he retired as Postmaster.

Zeke enjoyed going to Hull-Daisetta and Hardin Football Games and was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed reading about history. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as a daughter, Peggy Marie Zbranek, and his two brothers, J.C. Zbranek and M.J. Zbranek.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 67 years, Laverne Underwood Zbranek; his daughter, Patti Lynne Berryhill and her husband Bill; son, Thomas Edward Zbranek; and a grandson, Brian Mitchell and his wife Megan. In addition, Zeke leaves six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Hardin Chapel Cemetery. Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street in Liberty, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences and memories can be shared online at allison funeralservice.com.
