Mary Lopez, 78, of Liberty was born on Jan. 6, 1941, in Lufkin, the daughter of the late Farah D. (Higgins) and William “Thomas” Baty. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband of 58 years and her three children, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at her home.
Mrs. Lopez was a loving wife, mother, and “Gramma,” daughter and sister. She loved the outdoors, cooking and canning, reading and spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren. Mrs. Lopez attended Central Baptist Church in Liberty.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Lopez, of Liberty; daughter, Belynda Lopez Guess; sons, Jesse Dewayne Lopez and David Michael Lopez; grandchildren, Barry and Sarah Lopez, Mary Lauren, Nathan and Katherine Guess; sisters, Crystal Calder, Wonda Massey, Jean Bennett, Doris Siegert and Joyce Watson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Wayne and Pete Baty.
A graveside service for Mrs. Lopez will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street in Beaumont.
