Sheral Ann McKinney, 1949-2019

Sheral Ann McKinney, 70, a lifelong resident of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 22, in Winnie-Stowell, surrounded by loving family. She was born on June 16, 1949 in Dayton to the late Edd C. and Ada Bell Burns Favors. Sheral was a loving wife, mother, memaw, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sheral worked for several years doing cafeteria work for Dayton ISD. She had also worked in the bakery at Brookshire Brothers in Dayton and concessions at Huffman Horse Center. Sheral volunteered with the Dayton High School Bronco Band for 8 years as a band parent. She was also dedicated in her faith and for many years attended Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton.

Sheral pursued many interests, some of which included reading, working crossword puzzles and shopping. Sheral was an avid fan of Elvis and loved listening to his music. She enjoyed participating in crafts/activities and visiting with other seniors at the local nursing home. However, Sheral’s favorite hobby of all was spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Sheral was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 46 years, Marvin McKinney; and her siblings Luna Bell Favors Brown, Jessie C. Favors Sr. and Normie Edd Favors. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Marsha Bell Cook and Marco Perez of Spring, Lisa Gell Floyd and husband George of Winnie-Stowell; her grandchildren, Kandice, Kory, Kelsi, Aaron and Aidan; her great-grandchildren, Prycilla, Kyle, Bailee, Owen and Presley; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Kory Smith, Aaron Cook, Aidan Perez, Bobby Baker, J.B. McKinney Jr. and Robert Sanchez. Honorary pallbearer will be Kyle Barrett.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street in Dayton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Sterling Funeral Home with Brother Mark Martin officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Dayton.
