Students at Liberty Middle School for the first time participated in a 100% virtual Solo and Ensemble competition, earning 15 first division or (superior) ratings and one second division or (excellent) rating. In addition, Cayden Daniels and Ellie Hale earned an additional medal for being selected as Outstanding Soloist for their respective judges! Due to Covid, students had to record videos and send them in to be judged, which they typically do in person. This added extra pressure, not just for these middle schoolers but also for advanced singers. “You can’t go back and listen to yourself in-person; you sing, and it’s done. This was harder because you want to get it perfect, and so trying to get the best recording makes you more nervous,” said one of the singers. These students are a handful amongst millions of students in public and private schools that participated in this competition and similar competitions internationally. Congratulations to these studentsnot even an international pandemic could stop them from succeeding! “All GAS, NO BRAKES”! The Liberty Middle School Choirs are under the direction of Mark Patterson.
