Dayton’s Linda Bibbs on Saturday morning at the Broncos Cross Country Meet. The Vindicator | Geovanni De Hoyos

DAYTON - Dayton Head Cross Country Michael Asbill has been leading the running Broncos for years. Every year, Asbill and Dayton put on a heck of a cross country meet, and on Saturday morning, the Broncos did it again.

Things turned out a little different this time, though, as Dayton won the boys’ team title at the Dayton XC Invitational for the first time under Asbill.

Sophomore Jaxon Asbill turned in a time of 16:39 to win the boys’ individual title.

Teammates Peyton Snapp and Gamaliel Ruiz finished respectfully in fifth and sixth place. Jacob Thomas was 12th, and Isaac Ramirez crossed in 15th place.

For the Liberty boys, Daniel Del Rio led the Panthers in 47th and Jace Potetz was a few places behind him. Dayton finished with 39 points as a team, and Barbers Hill was in second place with 50.

On the girls’ varsity, the Lady Eagles of Barbers Hill won the team title, with Port Neches- Groves Morgan Campbell coming in first.

Linda Bibbs led the Lady Broncos with a seventh- place finish and Paulene Bibbs was 18th. Jamie Maddy and Katherine Hernandez checked in at 25th and 30th place.

Cleveland’s Abigail Guevera crossed in 34th place. Erika Herrera of the Lady Broncos was 36th. Hamshire-Fannett’s Adison Richard took first place in the varsity girl’s two-meter run. Aria Leal of Tarkington ran a nice race and finished in seventh place, while teammates Aila Flippo-Brock and Brianna Jones were 24th and 26th, respectively. Marie Hoffman and Brianna Sanchez finished in 35th and 37th place.
