The Vindicator | Jerry Michalsky -- Dayton’s Christy Vaughn is high up over the net for this kill on Friday afternoon at home against Barbers Hill.

After winning game two and tying the match at one apiece, the Dayton Lady Broncos had all the momentum going for them. Enter game three and a Barbers Hill lopsided score to move ahead in the match 2-1 before a classic game four which saw the Lady Eagles outlast Dayton to win the match 25-18, 21-25, 25-10 and 29-27.

The Lady Broncos fell behind 21-16 before kills by Loryn Mallet and Christy Vaughn made it 21-18. Barbers Hill then came back and won the next four points to win game one.

The Lady Broncos jumped out big in game two as a pair of kills by Skyler Wagner and a block/kill by Mallet had Dayton ahead 12-5. Barbers Hill then responded with a 6-1 run to get within 13-11 before a kill by Wagner ended the run. Leading 23-21, Vaughn put things away with a pair of kills to give the Lady Broncos the game and a tie in the match at one apiece.

After a Lady Eagles resounding win in game three, Dayton went ahead 2-0 in game four thanks to an ace by Belinda Torres. Tied at 4-all, Wagner nailed a kill to put the Lady Broncos up 5-4. Barbers Hill came back to move ahead 16-14 before a Laila Beck kill down the line made it 16-15. With the Lady Eagles leading 22-19 after a Dayton timeout, the Lady Broncos went on a 4-0 run capped off by a Wagner kill and a 23-22 lead. Barbers Hill then moved back ahead 25-24 before Wagner scored with a kill to tie the score at 25 apiece.

Both teams went back-and-forth until the Lady Eagles scored with consecutive points to secure the game and the match.

Vaughn had 12 kills to lead the way while Wagner and Back each had 10.

Dayton will host Port Neches-Groves on Friday at home. [Weather permitting].
