CLEVELAND - The Indians fought hard last weekend but dropped a pair of games to Conroe.

On Friday night in Cleveland, the Tigers made three early runs hold up for a 4-1 win. Conroe scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Indians responded with a run of their own. Xavier Woods singled and then moved to second on a single by Kendrea Lewis. Avery Sims followed with a single to plate Woods and the score was tied at 1-apiece.

The Tigers took the lead for good in the second with two runs and another in the sixth for a 4-1 advantage. Ethan Barron pitched into the seventh inning for Cleveland and finished with nine strikeouts. Sims had two hits and an RBI to lead the Indians at the plate.

On Saturday afternoon in Conroe, the Indians got five strong innings from Woods on the mound but fell short to the Tigers 3-0. The game was scoreless until Conroe scored a run in the fifth and used two more insurance runs in the sixth. Woods finished with seven strikeouts on the bump and allowed just two hits and a run.

Sims, Luis Gonzalez, and TT Gonzalez all had hits for Cleveland.

The Indians will conclude their season at home on Friday night against Grand Oaks.
