Dayton VB gearing up for invitational

On Tuesday, August 17th, the Lady Broncos traveled to Nederland. Program wide the girls came out flat and struggled to gain any momentum. The Freshman team lost to Nederland in two sets with scores of 16-25 and 11-25. The JV team lost to Nederland in two sets with scores of 20- 25 and 17-25. Varsity was unable to eliminate their own errors, which caused Nederland to gain momentum and push points in a row for the Lady Broncos to lose in three sets with scores of 15-25, 9-25, 9-25.

Thursday, August 18th, the Varsity Lady Broncos traveled to the Spring ISD Tournament and played 6A Cy-Ridge losing in three sets with scores of 15-25, 25-20, 10-15; they played 6A Westfield and won in two sets with scores of 25-19, 25-15, and lost to 5A Katy Jordan in two sets with scores of 19-25, 21-25. This earned a spot competing in the silver bracket on Saturday.

Friday, August 19th, the Lady Broncos hosted the C.E. King Lady Panthers. It was a program sweep with the Freshman team setting the tone for the program and beating the Lady Panthers in two sets with scores of 25-7 and 25-9. JaMiah McCray led the Lady Broncos with five kills, assisted by Itzel Gonzales and Katie Bird.

The JV team kept the momentum going for Lady Bronco Volleyball beating C.E. King in two sets with scores of 25-16 and 25-14. Katelyn Payton led the team in digs and kills.

With an all-team and crowd effort, the Varsity team secured the program sweep and won in three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-9. Jerrica Keener led the team with 14 kills and 11 digs., Addy Murphree led the team in digs with 12, and MyKala Souders led the team in assists with 16 and racked up five digs.

Saturday, the Varsity team traveled back to the Spring ISD tournament to compete in the silver bracket and went 2-2 on the day. Placing 4th in the silver bracket, beating 6A Dekaney and 6A Cypress Park, and losing to 6A Cypress Springs and 6A Pasadena Memorial.

All three teams traveled Tuesday to PNG for a non-district match-up, and the Varsity will compete in our own Varsity Invitational Tournament on August 26th to August 28th.
